FAQs About the Jozan Forest Tour

Do I need prior diving experience?

Not at all! If you’ve never dived before, you can try our Discover Scuba Diving experience, where an instructor guides you step by step. If you’re a certified diver, we have dives suited to your skill level.

Zanzibar has many amazing dive spots! Some of the best include:

  • Mnemba Atoll – famous for its vibrant coral reefs and marine life.
  • Tumbatu Island – a great spot for macro photography and reef diving.
  • Leven Bank – a deep dive site with strong currents, great for advanced divers.
  • Kizimkazi – known for dolphins and stunning underwater landscapes.
  • Beginner dives: 6-12 meters (20-40 feet)
  • Open Water dives: 18 meters (60 feet)
  • Advanced dives: 30 meters (100 feet)

When is the best time to dive in Zanzibar?

Zanzibar offers year-round diving, but the best conditions are from June to March when visibility is excellent, and the water is calm. The rainy seasons (April-May and November-December) can bring slight changes in visibility and surface conditions.

The water stays warm (24-30°C / 75-86°F) all year, so you’ll be comfortable in a 3mm wetsuit or even a shorty.

Absolutely! We follow strict PADI safety protocols, and our instructors are highly trained professionals. We provide high-quality dive gear, first aid kits, oxygen tanks, and full safety briefings before every dive.

Some sites, like Leven Bank, have strong currents and are recommended for advanced divers. However, many dive sites are calm and perfect for beginners. Our guides always assess conditions before every dive.

Yes, but don’t worry! You might spot reef sharks, which are harmless and a highlight for many divers. Larger sharks are very rare in Zanzibar waters.

What marine life can I see in Zanzibar?

Zanzibar’s waters are full of marine treasures, including:

  • Tropical fish (clownfish, lionfish, angelfish, parrotfish)
  • Turtles (green turtles, hawksbill turtles)
  • Reef sharks
  • Dolphins (often seen at Mnemba Atoll)
  • Octopuses, moray eels, and stingrays
  • Beautiful coral gardens and sponges
  • Single Dive: Around 2-3 hours, including briefing, boat ride, and the dive itself.
  • Two-Dive Trip: About 4-5 hours, with a surface interval between dives.
  • Full-Day Trip: Includes three dives, lunch, and extra relaxation time on the boat.

Yes! Non-divers can snorkel while you dive or just relax on the boat and enjoy the scenery.

  • swimwear & towel
  • Sunscreen (reef-safe)
  • Sunglasses & hat
  • Waterproof camera (if you have one)
  • A big smile & an adventurous spirit! 😃
