Planning a Zanzibar honeymoon, in short

A Zanzibar honeymoon pairs a beach resort with a few private romantic excursions, and works best from June to October or December to February. Couples usually stay seven to ten nights, split between the beaches of Nungwi, Kendwa or Paje — or a private-island lodge — and a day or two of culture in Stone Town. Blue Green Zanzibar Tours builds the excursion side around you: sunset dhow cruises, sandbank picnics, snorkelling at Mnemba and spice-farm visits, all as private, two-person experiences, with resort and transfer bundles quoted to your dates.

Why couples choose Zanzibar

Few destinations pack barefoot-luxury beaches, a UNESCO old town and a coral reef into one short flight. Zanzibar lets you have a slow, private honeymoon and a little adventure without ever changing islands.

  • Warm all year

Two clear dry windows and swim-friendly seas even in the cooler months, so your dates rarely force a compromise.

  • Real privacy

From secluded villas in Kizimkazi to a private atoll off the northeast coast — and every tour is private to your party, never a shared minibus.

  • Beach plus more

Snorkel Mnemba by day, wander Stone Town’s lantern-lit alleys by night, then extend into a mainland safari for a true bush-to-beach trip.

Honeymoon experiences we build around you

Mix and match these private excursions into your stay. Prices are per-person “from” rates that fall as a group grows — as a couple you’ll be quoted a private two-person rate, so message us for your exact honeymoon price.

Most romantic parts of the island

Where you base yourselves shapes the whole trip. These four corners each suit a different kind of honeymoon.

White-sand beach and turquoise water at Nungwi, northern Zanzibar

Nungwi & Kendwa

On the northwest tip, Nungwi and Kendwa keep stable tides for all-day swimming, with the island’s best sunsets, beachfront dining and lively evenings.

Best for: luxury resorts, oceanfront dinners, a little buzz.

Wide quiet beach with palms at Paje on Zanzibar's southeast coast

Paje & Jambiani

The southeast coast is quieter and more local: long empty beaches, boutique stays and yoga, at Paje and Jambiani.

Best for: intimacy, relaxation, honest island charm.

Historic waterfront and architecture of Stone Town, Zanzibar

Stone Town

A UNESCO World Heritage old town of cobbled alleys and spice markets. Wander to the Old Fort, the Forodhani night market and a rooftop dinner over the sea.

Best for: history lovers; a night or two before the beach.

Turquoise water around Mnemba Atoll off northeast Zanzibar

Mnemba & the atolls

Off the northeast coast, Mnemba is a tiny atoll ringed by coral — the island’s most exclusive corner and its best snorkelling.

Best for: seclusion and high-end romance.

Amazing tour – highly recommended! The tour was excellent. Our guide, Nassor, picked us up directly at the ferry terminal and stayed with us from start to finish. He shared many interesting stories and demonstrated great knowledge throughout the entire tour. We first took a boat to Prison Island (the turtle island), then visited the sandbank, where a wonderful seafood lunch was prepared for us. After that, we returned to the city for the historical tour. The team also helped us with purchasing the ferry tickets, which was extremely helpful and made everything much easier. I highly recommend this tour!

A Dream Realized In Zanzibar My Family's Unforgettable Week in Zanzibar with Blue Green Zanzibar Tour and Safari Like many, my first glimpse of Zanzibar was through the captivating videos on TikTok. The turquoise waters, pristine beaches, and vibrant culture sparked a dream within me, a dream I finally realized this past November with my family. As an Irish native, planning a trip to such a distant and exotic locale felt daunting, especially when initial attempts to connect with various tourist companies proved fruitless. Misinformation was rampant, and responses were slow or nonexistent, leaving me feeling frustrated and uncertain. That's when I stumbled upon Blue Green Zanzibar Tour and Safari. From the moment I reached out, I experienced a level of responsiveness and care that was truly exceptional. Wadi, our contact at Blue Green Zanzibar Tour and Safari, immediately understood my vision for a week long family adventure in Zanzibar. He meticulously crafted a personalized itinerary, taking into account our interests and preferences. From the moment we touched down at the airport, Blue Green Zanzibar Tour and Safari took care of everything. A friendly driver greeted us and transported us to our hotel, setting the tone for a week of seamless travel. Each day, our dedicated driver arrived promptly, ready to whisk us away to new and exciting experiences. We explored spice plantations, swam with dolphins, wandered through the historic streets of Stone Town, and relaxed on the beaches. all without a single worry or logistical hiccup. What truly set Blue Green Zanzibar Tour and Safari apart was their commitment to comfort, relaxation, and attention to detail. Every aspect of our trip was carefully considered, ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable experience for the entire family. There were no hidden fees, no unexpected surprises, and no high-pressure sales tactics. Just genuine hospitality and a desire to make our vacation truly special. I wholeheartedly recommend Blue Green Zanzibar Tour and Safari to anyone planning a trip to this enchanting island. While there are many travel companies to choose from, Blue Green Zanzibar Tour and Safari stands out for its transparency, integrity, and personalized service. With Wadi at the helm, you can rest assured that your trip will be meticulously planned and flawlessly executed. He is an amazing person who organized my trip and everything go perfect, smoothly. Thanks to Wadi, my family and I created memories that will last a lifetime. If you want to experience the magic of Zanzibar without the stress of planning, look no further than Blue Green Zanzibar Tour and Safari. You won't be disappointed!

Outstanding experience with Blue Green Safari Zanzibar! We had an amazing experience with Blue Green Safari. From start to finish, the team was highly professional, punctual, and incredibly accommodating. We were traveling with two toddlers, and they went out of their way to make everything smooth and comfortable for us — adjusting plans when needed and always being patient and kind. What really stood out was their genuine care and flexibility. They didn’t just treat us like clients; they truly cared about our experience. They even helped us arrange donations for a local school and village, which meant a lot to us and made the trip feel even more meaningful. If you’re planning any tours or excursions in Zanzibar, I can’t recommend Blue Green Safari enough. They’re reliable, thoughtful, and go above and beyond to ensure you have a memorable and stress-free experience.

Blue and Green Zanzibar - Tours and Safari Thank you very much for the incredible experience! Your service was truly amazing, and we were so happy during our entire stay. Every driver and guide we met was professional, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our trip special. A big thank you to our driver Hamdun, he was such a great companion throughout our travels. Always in a good mood, playing great music, helpful, and smiling. He really made the journey even more enjoyable. A special mention also goes to Nasser, our guide for the Blue Safari. Nasser was beyond amazing! Such a great guy, friendly, fun, super helpful, and just a joy to be around. He made the whole day unforgettable. The guides at Nakupenda also took excellent care of us and prepared a fantastic lunch. Everything was perfectly arranged. It was an unforgettable trip, thanks to you and the entire team. We’ll truly miss Zanzibar. Thank you again!

Zanzibar honeymoon FAQ

Is Zanzibar good for a honeymoon?

Yes. Zanzibar is one of Africa’s top honeymoon destinations, combining white-sand beaches and luxury resorts with romantic experiences like sunset dhow cruises, private sandbank picnics, snorkelling at Mnemba and cultural evenings in Stone Town — all reachable on one small island.

How much does a Zanzibar honeymoon cost?

The biggest variable is your resort: boutique and mid-range stays start indicatively around $120–260 a night, luxury beachfront around $280–520, and private-island lodges higher again. Private excursions start from about $17–60 per person, quoted as a two-person rate for couples. Send us your dates and budget and we’ll return a real, all-in figure with no surprise add-ons.

When is the best time for a Zanzibar honeymoon?

The best months are June to October and December to February — the dry seasons with clear skies and calm seas. November brings short, passing rains and lower rates, while March to May is the quietest, cheapest window if you don’t mind occasional downpours.

How many days do you need for a Zanzibar honeymoon?

Seven to ten nights is ideal. A common rhythm is two to three nights of beach and sunset cruises, a couple of days for culture and spice tours around Stone Town, then a few more for Mnemba, Jozani or a short mainland safari — enough rest and romance without rushing.

Can we combine our Zanzibar honeymoon with a safari?

Absolutely — the classic bush-to-beach honeymoon. From Zanzibar you can fly to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, or take a shorter Mikumi or Selous trip, then return to the sand. We arrange the whole safari from Zanzibar and time it around your beach days.

Which resorts are best for honeymooners?

It depends on your style. For seclusion, look at private-island lodges or The Residence in Kizimkazi. For lively beachfront luxury, Nungwi and Kendwa resorts like Gold Zanzibar. For value and boutique charm, the quiet southeast coast around Paje and Jambiani. Tell us your budget and we’ll shortlist the right two or three with live rates.

How do we make our honeymoon extra special?

Small touches make the memories: a private beach dinner with lanterns and local music, a sunset photo session, a picnic for two on a sandbank, or a Swahili cooking class together. Just ask when you message us and we’ll build these romantic surprises into your itinerary.
